The lights are glaring, the audience is anxiously waiting, and it's time for you to hit that empty stage and make magic. There is no music, no scenery, no theatrical glamour, just you and the microphone. A lot of people will never understand how truly daunting the life of a comedian is. Every night you leave a little bit of yourself on that stage. Will they love you and allow you to ride out on a wave full of laughter? Or will they let you die a long and miserable death of silence? Every comedian is a warrior whether they choose to realize it or not. You see, unlike in music where you hit a bad note, or a dancer missing a step, comedy shows no forgiveness.
As a 19 year old comedian, I am the youngest by far against all the people I perform with. Compared to them if I was any younger I'd be a fetus. A lot of people say 'At 19 years old how is possible to have material?' and I say why not? The world is full of so many outrageously stupid people and I don't think I have to be old enough to be on a ventilator to call them out on it. My comedy is different than other comedians. It's unique. It's different. People don't always like different. People fear different. When I hit that stage I can assure you that no one can perform quite like I can and sometimes, that's what works against me. You can go to any club in New York City and no Comedian's act will be anything like mine. I am not that comedian that stands there with a microphone and does an act. I am performer. My audience has to get it and ultimately understand what I'm trying to do. Some do and some don't but when they get it, I know they really get it and that means the world to me.
I'm lucky enough to have a loyal internet following and they mean so much to me. I get emails from Russia, Mexico, the Philippines, you name it and I never receive a message from one of them without saying thank you. Someday, I know in my heart that those worlds will meet. I haven't gotten the chance to meet any of them yet but I am really looking forward to seeing their face at one of my shows in the future because they give me so much strength and courage to fight for my dream. I want to shake up the game and do something that no one ever has before. I'm fighting for every single person that has been told they would never be good enough.
